Functions of Legislation Wing Under rule 12 of the Government Rules of Business, 1985

• Vet Bills and Ordinances proposed by Administrative Departments.
• Vet Rules, Regulations, Service Rules of the Department.
• Vet Agreements to be executed by Government with other parties.
• Attending Meetings where Legislative Proposals are to be discussed.
• Legal opinion in various matters involving interpretation of statute.
• Constitutional Matters.

Functions of Opinion Wing

• Tendering legal advices on all legal questions as requested by different Administrative Departments.
• Render timely advice to the Administrative Departments if any action/ advice is required from the opinion wing in a case/ matter on passing of stay/ interim/ final order.
• Cases in which interpretation points is required under the Articles of the Constitution of Pakistan.
• To monitor all the case sub-judice in various Courts ranging from Civil Courts to Supreme Court of Pakistan.
• To assist the Scrutiny Committee cases.

Perform all other responsibilities as per directions of Law Department.
